Arts programme welcomes Bac Ha Autumn Festival 2026 with the sounds and colours of the highlands

Hundreds of performers, residents and visitors joined an arts programme welcoming the 2026 Bac Ha Autumn Festival at the Bac Ha Cultural Market stage on the evening of August 29.

An overview of the arts programme.

The programme featured 10 performances centred on ethnic culture, the homeland of Bac Ha and Vietnam's northwestern highlands. A harmonious blend of colour, sound and lighting offered visitors an artistic "feast" rich in local identity, with diverse performances by clubs and amateur artists from Bac Ha Commune.

Ten song, dance and musical performances rich in ethnic cultural identity were presented during the evening.

The programme ranged from the lively instrumental ensemble of the Hong Mi Folk Arts Club and the reflective flute piece "Spring Comes to the Mong Village" to graceful dances recreating festive settings, including "Going to the Long Tong Festival in Spring", "Fragrance of Young Rice", "Melody of the Stream", "Words of the Tinh Lute" (a Nung dance), "Colours of the Plateau", "Northwestern Lao Cai in Festival", as well as song-and-dance pieces inspired by ethnic communities such as "Prosperous Mong People" and "Northwest Dance".

More than a conventional arts evening, the event helped realize the goal of creating a lively and attractive space for community cultural activities. Visitors could also explore the night market, enjoy highland cuisine and learn about the cultures of local ethnic groups.

The event is expected not only to meet local ethnic communities' recreation and entertainment needs but also to serve as a "magnet" for visitors from far and wide.

Visitors enjoyed meeting and taking photos with local children and residents at Bac Ha Night Market.

The arts evening came to an end but opened a lively festival season, affirming the enduring vitality of traditional culture in modern life on Bac Ha's "white plateau".
