Distinctive cultural experiences in Nghia Do tourism village
As part of the 2026 Nghia Do Temple Festival, a series of hands-on activities showcasing the cultures of local ethnic groups was held on the afternoon of August 25 at the Nghia Do Indigenous Cultural Experience Area. The activities help promote traditional cultural beauty while raising awareness of the need to preserve and promote ethnic identity.
Traditional weaving was among the experiences most popular with visitors. Rather than simply watching, guests could practise the craft themselves and weave small souvenirs, gaining a more direct and vivid insight into the cultural life of Nghia Do residents.
International visitors explored the cultural space of Nghia Do's ethnic groups and discovered traditional Tay products.
Traditional woven products were made from bamboo and giang bamboo, while handcrafted dyes were produced from natural materials readily available locally.
Traditional craft samples were displayed for visitors to choose from and weave themselves during the experience.
Artisans patiently guided visitors step by step through traditional weaving techniques.
In Nghia Do, visitors could join village artisans and craftspeople to discover the distinctive skills behind familiar traditional items such as baskets, trays and carrying baskets. They could also make small pieces themselves, creating personal keepsakes from the visit.
Trying their hand at crossbow shooting gave visitors a chance to experience the concentration, dexterity and precision required to use a tool long associated with the work and hunting traditions of local ethnic communities.
Visitors try stilt walking in Muong Kem Village, crossing fields and walking paths for an engaging experience closely connected with local cultural life.
The series of activities not only creates opportunities for interaction between visitors and local people but also enriches Nghia Do's cultural tourism products. Direct, hands-on experiences help travellers better understand local life, customs and traditional culture while creating memorable moments on their journey through Nghia Do, recently honoured as a "Leading Community Tourism Village 2025".
The 2026 Nghia Do Temple Festival will take place tomorrow morning, August 26, corresponding to the 14th day of the seventh lunar month in the Binh Ngo year.
