Culinary contest left strong impression at 2026 Nghia Do Temple Festival
A traditional culinary contest was held on the morning of August 26 as part of the 2026 Nghia Do Temple Festival, drawing large numbers of residents and visitors to taste and experience local cuisine.

Ten teams from villages, agencies and organizations in Nghia Do Commune took part. Each prepared a display booth introducing traditional handicrafts and arranged a ceremonial food tray according to the contest requirements.

Teams prepared their ingredients in advance, then cooked the dishes on site within the festival grounds.

The ceremonial food trays were prepared with great care. From local ingredients to serving vessels, teams prioritized environmentally friendly materials, creating a rustic and approachable presentation rich in the identity of Nghia Do and its green landscape.

With thoughtful preparation and the skilful hands of folk-cuisine "artisans", the teams presented traditional food trays rich in local identity, featuring everyday dishes and specialties of Nghia Do's ethnic communities such as twice-grilled fish, stream fish cooked in bamboo tubes, bamboo-tube duck, duck stir-fried with sour bamboo shoots, dried frog, five-colour sticky rice, banana cakes, canarium-fruit salad and steamed cassava.

The judging panel praised the teams for their thoughtful and creative preparation. Along with natural flavours and fresh ingredients, teams paid close attention to presentation, using their dishes to convey cultural stories and the hospitality of Nghia Do's people.

Five-colour sticky rice and banana cakes were indispensable traditional dishes on the seventh-lunar-month full-moon feast table of Tay families in Nghia Do.
The culinary contest was one of the distinctive highlights of the 2026 Nghia Do Temple Festival, helping preserve and celebrate the locality's unique culinary culture while promoting Nghia Do as a leading community tourism destination known for its friendliness and rich identity.
