The delegation then visited the Provincial Central Martyrs' Cemetery, where it laid a wreath bearing the words "Eternal gratitude to the heroic martyrs", offered incense and observed a minute of silence in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and the happiness of the people. During the wars to defend the nation, nearly 10,000 people from Lao Cai heroically made the ultimate sacrifice, contributing to the nation's historic victories.

Upholding the Vietnamese traditions of "when drinking water, remember its source" and "when eating fruit, remember those who planted the tree", Lao Cai has consistently paid close attention to fully implementing Party and State policies for people with meritorious service to the revolution. Allowances, convalescence and medical care, the restoration of martyrs' memorial works, and the search, recovery and identification of martyrs' remains have been carried out regularly and effectively.

For this year's 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day alone, the province organized a range of practical gratitude activities, including visits and the presentation of more than 11,500 gifts; the establishment of 22 delegations to visit and present gifts to people with meritorious service; incense-offering trips to revolutionary and memorial sites inside and outside the province; and the replacement of nearly 150 temporary or dilapidated houses for biological children of resistance-war participants exposed to toxic chemicals.

In particular, the province is vigorously implementing the campaign "500 Days and Nights to Accelerate the Search, Recovery and Identification of Martyrs' Remains", which has already produced positive initial results. To date, 14 sets of martyrs' remains have been recovered; sampling of remains has been completed at 16 martyrs' cemeteries; 1,250 graves have been exhumed; and 3,115 of a planned 3,188 DNA samples have been collected from relatives of unidentified martyrs. These efforts provide an important foundation for restoring the identities of fallen heroes.
