Lao Cai opens Red River Festival 2025

On the evening of November 19, at Nam Cuong Square, Cam Duong Ward, Lao Cai Province, the Opening Ceremony of the Red River Festival 2025 took place with the theme "Where the Red River flows into Vietnam".

Attending the opening ceremony on the Central side were Mr. Nguyen Hai Ninh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Justice; representatives of central ministries, departments and branches.

On the side of Lao Cai province, there were Mr. Trinh Viet Hung - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council (PC); Hoang Giang - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Tuan Anh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (PC); Giang Thi Dung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee (FPF); former leaders of the province through the periods; delegates of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee; Standing member of the Provincial People's Council, leaders of the People's Committee, the PPC of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front; leaders of departments, branches, sectors and localities.

International guests included Ms. Khamphao Ernthavanh - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam; Mr. Dato' Tan Yang Thai - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Vietnam; Ms. La Binh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the People's Government of Hong Ha District (Yunnan Province, China).

Also attending the event were delegations from many provinces and cities across the country; representatives of corporations, businesses, associations, central and local news agencies and press, along with a large number of people and domestic and foreign tourists.

The Festival takes place from November 18-24, 2025 in Lao Cai ward, Cam Duong ward and some other localities of Lao Cai province.

2025 is the first year that Lao Cai province organizes the Red River Festival - opening the Red River Festival Project for the period 2025-2035. This is an important cultural-economic-foreign affairs event, aiming to honor the history, culture and civilization of the Red River, foster national pride, educate the tradition of "remembering the source of drinking water", at the same time, promote economic-social development cooperation, expand friendly relations between provinces and cities in the Red River basin (Vietnam) and Yunnan province (China).

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee delivered the opening speech.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee emphasized: "The Red River - Lao Cai Festival 2025 is not only a cultural festival, but also an important political, economic and diplomatic activity; contributing to implementing the policy of developing cultural industry associated with tourism, making culture an endogenous strength and driving force for sustainable development".

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. La Binh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the People's Government of Hong Ha District (Yunnan, China) expressed her joy that the 2025 Red River - Lao Cai Festival and the China - Vietnam Cooperation Week in the Red River basin were held on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - China diplomatic relations and the year of humanistic exchange between the two countries.

A large number of people and tourists attended the opening ceremony of the Red River - Lao Cai Festival 2025.

Within the framework of the Festival, visitors will experience the cultural space of ethnic groups; visit cultural exhibitions, tourism, photos, artifacts and publications about the Red River; enjoy folk rituals, folk songs, traditional costumes to feel the beauty of the land and people of the upstream region - where the Red River flows into Vietnam.

Along with that, there is a series of events and activities of economic - sports - tourism - friendship exchange, such as: Vietnam - China International Trade Fair; reenactment of the ancient Coc Leu Market; international cycling race "One track - two countries". In particular, the Lao Cai Shan Tuyet Tea Festival "Tea scent in the clouds" will honor the quintessence of highland products, bringing visitors experiences rich in cultural identity.

The regular organization of the Red River Festival is a concrete step to implement the Resolution of the First Lao Cai Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030, towards the 14th National Party Congress, demonstrating the spirit of innovation, creativity, proactive integration, building Lao Cai into a leading trade connection center, cultural-tourism center of the Northern Midlands and Mountains region, developing in a green, harmonious, unique and happy direction.

This is also a forum for localities to exchange, cooperate, share experiences, and at the same time strengthen the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and China - two countries linked by mountains and rivers, with shared cultures and similar ideals, and together fostering peace and development.

At the opening ceremony, a large number of people and tourists were immersed in a series of unique art programs, vividly recreating the cultural colors of the highlands of Lao Cai province.
