Implementing Plan No. 140 of the Provincial People's Committee, on November 5, the delegation of Lao Cai province led by Mr. Tran Huy Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee visited and worked with Hong Ha and Van Son districts, Yunnan province, China. Accompanying the delegation were leaders of relevant departments and branches of the province.

Lao Cai province delegation surveyed Ba Sai Surveillance Area and Hong Ha Free Trade Pilot Zone.

Immediately after leaving for Yunnan province, the working delegation surveyed a number of important infrastructure projects in Hekou district, including: the project to build a road bridge across the Red River Bat Xat (Vietnam) - Ba Sai (China); the Bac Son international cargo terminal, Hekou and the Hekou smart border gate project.

At the survey points, leaders of Hong Ha district, Ha Khau district, and leaders of functional sectors on the other side exchanged and shared information on the progress and development orientation of border gate infrastructure, logistics, and border trade between the two sides.

The working group surveyed the construction of the road bridge across the Red River Bat Xat (Vietnam) - Ba Sai (China).

Speaking at the survey, Mr. Tran Huy Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: These are projects of strategic significance, contributing to the completion of international trade connections, promoting the development of border gate economy, logistics and border tourism. Lao Cai province identified the Kim Thanh - Bac Son smart border gate area and the Ban Vuoc - Ba Sai customs clearance as two breakthroughs in the strategy of modernizing border gate infrastructure, gradually building Lao Cai into a center of economic trade connection between Vietnam - ASEAN - China, in the spirit of Decision 1620 of the Prime Minister.

He requested relevant departments, branches and localities of Lao Cai province to focus on removing obstacles in planning, land use, investment mechanisms; urgently complete the pilot project to build a smart border gate model to submit to the Prime Minister for approval. At the same time, strengthen coordination with Yunnan province to ensure synchronous infrastructure, management mechanisms, and sharing of electronic customs clearance data, ready for the trial operation phase from 2026.

Mr. Tran Huy Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee spoke at the survey.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Lao Cai Economic Zone Management Board to speed up the construction of logistics infrastructure, dedicated roads, and smart operating systems; and proactively attract high-tech investors to participate in the project chain.

The early completion of key projects such as Bat Xat – Ba Sai bridge and Bac Son logistics center is expected to open up new development space, creating momentum to promote border trade and sustainable development of the Lao Cai – Ha Khau border gate area, contributing to making Lao Cai a dynamic growth pole on the Vietnam – China economic corridor./.
