Awareness is the key to changing behavior and promoting health protection actions. Lao Cai has promoted health education communication activities in many forms: Propaganda on mass media; through the radio system of communes, wards and towns; through social networks such as Facebook, Zalo, websites... Accordingly, all levels and sectors have implemented a series of communication programs on disease prevention, proper nutrition, expanded vaccination... Every year, thousands of news, articles and reports are broadcast on mass media, helping to spread the message of health protection. Direct communication activities in the community reach more than 2 million people, helping people access information more easily and accurately. Communication programs are designed to suit each target group, ethnicity and region, helping to change health behavior in the community and improve the quality of life.

Improve the quality of medical examination and treatment

Lao Cai has focused on implementing Project No. 07-DA/TU on protecting and caring for people's health and population work for the period 2020-2025, Plan No. 107/KH-UBND implementing the Vietnam Health Program to 2030. Thereby, positive results have been achieved. Impressive figures in maternal and child health care: 100% of pregnant women are given iron/folic acid/multi-micronutrient supplements annually; 98.5% of children aged 6-60 months are supplemented with vitamin A; over 82.8% of stunted children are supported with nutritional rehabilitation. Food safety control is focused on. The rate of food establishments meeting food safety standards increased from 84% (2018) to 95.7% (2024), helping to minimize the risk of food poisoning and ensure safety for consumers.

With the goal of overcoming hospital overload, Lao Cai has stepped up investment in infrastructure and medical equipment. Currently, 7/9 hospitals have been newly built, ensuring infrastructure in line with development planning. The total cost of purchasing medical equipment for the period 2022-2025 is up to more than 856 billion Vietnamese dong. Investing in modern medical equipment: digital angiography system (DSA), linear radiotherapy system, upgrading MRI machines, IVF system to support reproduction at the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.

The grassroots health system has also been strongly upgraded. 100% of district health centers and 151 communes and wards have implemented epidemic prevention plans, ensuring timely monitoring, detection and treatment of epidemics. District hospitals have deployed blood filtration techniques, some places can perform laparoscopic surgery, reducing the burden on upper-level hospitals.

Modern machinery is invested to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment for the people.

Technology application

Digital transformation is becoming an important driving force to improve the efficiency of healthcare in Lao Cai. According to a report by the Provincial People's Committee, the total estimated budget for the healthcare digital transformation plan for the 2023-2025 period is VND201 billion. Hospitals have applied information technology in managing medical examination and treatment, vaccination and routine healthcare, helping to reduce administrative procedures and improve service quality.

Healthcare is not a short-term race, but a long-term journey that requires the cooperation of the whole community. From doctors and nurses on the front lines, dedicated staff in preventive medicine, to each citizen in raising awareness and proactively protecting health.

These impressive figures not only reflect the results of the investment and innovation process but also affirm a mindset: health is the foundation for sustainable development. Lao Cai has been making constant efforts with the right policies, in-depth investment, and people-centeredness so that highland health stations are no longer far away from villagers, and every family can access health services more conveniently./.
