Provincial Party Secretary Dang Xuan Phong received the delegation of the Dominican Republic

On the morning of July 27, at the Provincial Conference Center, Comrade Dang Xuan Phong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, had a meeting and worked with the high-ranking delegation of the United Left Movement of the Dominican Republic led by Ms. Martha Perez, Member of Parliament, Secretary of the Party Central Committee in charge of foreign affairs MIU, who was visiting and working in Lao Cai.

Lao Cai provincial leaders warmly welcomed the delegation of the Dominican Republic's political party.

Accompanying the delegation of Ms. Marta Perez were Mr. Fernando Chavez Molie, member of the MIU International Committee, Minister of the Embassy of the Dominican Republic; and officials of the Central Foreign Affairs Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

At the reception and working session with the delegation of the Dominican Republic, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Dang Xuan Phong introduced the important geographical location, potential and advantages of Lao Cai province in socio-economic development. That is a favorable location for developing import and export of goods, abundant mineral resources, advantages in tourism development and advantages in agricultural production.

The two sides exchanged information, cooperation possibilities, and upgraded foreign relations.

Lao Cai province is identified as one of the important growth poles of the region and the whole country with its position connecting the economic corridor from the Southwest region (China) with the provinces and cities of the Red River Delta.

The Provincial Party Secretary also expressed his delight at the progress in diplomatic relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam and political parties of the Dominican Republic and between the two countries over the past 20 years, since the two sides established official diplomatic relations.

Ms. Martha Perez said that the Dominican Republic is an island nation in the Caribbean Bay of South America; the country's area is about 48 thousand km2 , with a population of about 10 million people. Ms. Martha Perez said that, in fact, the two parties and the two countries have had diplomatic relations since the years when Vietnam had not yet carried out national renovation. Ms. Martha Perez herself admired, respected and respected President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam's struggle for national liberation.

In 2023, the United Left Movement Party proposed erecting a statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the largest district of the capital of the Dominican Republic, while Vietnam also erected a statue of a leader of its neighbor in Hanoi.

Lao Cai provincial leaders took souvenir photos with the delegation of the Dominican Republic.

Ms. Martha Perez proposed an initiative and supported the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations between Lao Cai province and a locality of the Dominican Republic. Ms. Martha also suggested choosing a locality with similar characteristics to Lao Cai such as tourism development, minerals and agricultural production so that the two sides could cooperate, exchange experiences and connect to serve development goals.
