Viettel to test 5G service in Lao Cai city

On September 1, 2022, Viettel continued to test 5G services in Lao Cai city.

With the mission of being a leading pioneer in creating a digital society, Viettel has been determined to build 5G network infrastructure in localities. In 2021, in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic raging nationwide, Viettel has made efforts to complete coverage in 16 provinces/cities.

Determining the priority of 5G test implementation is one of the important commitments of Viettel to Lao Cai Province under the cooperation agreement between the group and Lao Cai Province, as soon as the agreement was signed (05/08/2021), Viettel Lao Cai has urgently surveyed, proposed guidelines, deployed infrastructure construction, equipment installation and coordinated with the Group's agencies to complete the procedures to submit to the Ministry of Information and Communications for pilot license.

Previously, on April 30, 2022, Viettel officially broadcast 5G in Sa Pa town, making Lao Cai the 18th province in the country covered with 5G Viettel.

Broadcast stations in Lao Cai city have been put into testing from September 1, 2022.

In order to continue to expand the scope of testing, evaluate service quality, increase customer experience, affirm its commitment to soon deploy 5G in Lao Cai, over the past time, In the past time, Viettel Lao Cai has continued to build and complete 02 5G broadcasting stations at Viettel Lao Cai headquarters (covering the building of the Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee, the Front - Union and surrounding areas) and at the headquarters of the Department of Information and Communications (covering the building of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Information and Communications and the surrounding area). These broadcasting stations will be officially put into testing from September 1, 2022.

The world's first commercially launched 5th generation (5G) mobile network in 2019 meets the requirements of ultra-wide bandwidth, super high speed (10-50 times faster than 4G), low latency, high reliability, and requires a large number of connections that 4G cannot meet. In Vietnam, Viettel is the pioneer in applying for a license and testing 5G technology from May 2019 with the first 5G call in Vietnam (5G First call) and bringing trial service to customers in 17 provinces by April 2022 such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Phuoc, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Thua Thien - Hue, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Vinh Phuc, Dong Nai, Thai Nguyen, Soc Trang...

Currently, the models that can experience 5G Viettel include Iphone (from iPhone 12 series and above), Nokia (Nokia 8.3 5G), Oppo (Find X2, Find X2 pro), Xiaomi (Mi 10T Pro 5G, Poco F2 Pro) ), ZTE (AXON 10 pro 5G), Realme (Realme X50 pro 5G), Huawei (P40, P40 pro, P40 Pro Plus), Samsung Note 20 Ultra 5G and recently Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G…

With this event, Viettel wishes to contribute to a series of activities to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the National Day on September 2 and the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of the provincial capital town - Lao Cai city. In addition, this continues to be an important premise to soon deploy 5G on a large scale in the near future, contributing to completing the infrastructure for the province's digital transformation strategy.
